After getting some help from a friend redesigning this site, I am newly reinvigorated to join the food blogging community. Right now it seems like it’s just eating and working, so I need to get my mind off all this stuff. ‘Tis almost the season for for pigging out.

While cleaning out my cabinet, I came across a packet of NOH Chinese Barbecue Seasoning Mix. It must have been at least a couple years old, as it was left by an old roommate who used these seasoning packets a lot. But I hadn’t had char-sui in a while, so I figured why not make it? The directions on the packet looked easy enough:
Ingredients:
- 1 pkg. NOH Chinese Barbecue Seasoning Mix
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 1/2 lbs. pork or poultry (pork butt, ribs, chicken, duck, turkey, etc.)

Carnival of the Recipes #64 is up over at Pajama Pundits, and it looks like soup recipes are the focus this week. Great for this chilly, wet weather of Portland. Brrr…

Figured I should have at least two posts for October… I made meatloaf tonight, and it is mighty tasty.
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs of ground beef
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 packet onion soup mix powder
Directions:
1. Mix all ingredients in a big bowl
2. Shape onto a baking sheet and bake for 30 minutes at 350 F.
3. That’s it! Goes great with mashed potatoes and lightly sauted grean beans.

I love Ben and Jerry’s ice cream. They continue to innovate by introducing their new Euphori-Lock pint-locking mechanism:
This idea came from one of our fans! He wrote us about how he lives in mental turmoil after buying Ben & Jerry’s. He was so afraid that his roommates would eat his pint…he couldn’t concentrate at work! He suggested we sell our pints in stainless steel, bulletproof containers with a little padlock. While we couldn’t actually do THAT, we came up with the Euphori-Lock!
Keep your roommates’ dirty grubs off your Chunky Monkey! Just don’t forget your combination or you’ll have to warm up the chainsaw.

Man, school is keeping me busy. I still cook but I’m so hungry by the time I get home there’s no way I’m taking pictures and typing it up - I just want to inhale it and do my homework so I can get to sleep! Gotta work on my time management.

School has started, and it’s killing my blogging energy. I keep forgetting to take pictures of the food while I make it, and now I have old pictures piling up, unedited and without recipes. Great time management skills have I do not, Yoda would say.
But I just found this, and I figured the readers of Easy Eats would appreciate some free Easy Fries from Ore-Ida. Just fill it out and they’ll send you a coupon for some free microwave fries. Here some more info:
Extra Crispy Fries – Extra Fast! Deliciously crispy on the outside, light and tender on the inside! With specially prepared Ore-Ida® Golden Crinkles® tucked between an upper and lower crisping sheet, the heat from your microwave cooks them to crispy perfection in just 4 minutes.
Crisping sheets? Heck I’ll still eat it if it’s free
I’m not reading the Nutrition Facts either. Did you know that Ore-Ida comes from the combination of Oregon and Idaho? It’s true!

Everybody has a bad day sometimes. Lucky for me, the sure way to cheer my girlfriend up is the one-two combo of flowers and a pint of Ben & Jerry’s Coffee Heath Bar Crunch ice cream. With two spoons, of course.

We still have way too many tomatoes, and I needed to do something different, so I tried out this Tomato Tart with Parmesan Crust recipe from 101Cookbooks, and substituted my tomatoes while adding some fresh mozzarella. It turned out pretty good!

Did you know the George Foreman Grill makes a nice panini sandwich press? I like making this for leftover turkey or chicken. Just add whatever veggies you have around like spinach or tomatoes and some cheese, and you’re good to go. I coat the outside with a little olive oil to make it extra crispy.
